Earth Hour is a worldwide movement organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The event is held annually encouraging individuals, communities, households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour, from 20h30 to 21h30, as a symbol of their commitment to the planet. Earth Hour was started as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia, in 2007 and this year it was held around the world on Saturday 25 March.

Hotels in the Legacy Group recognise that our business has an important role to play in protecting and enhancing the environment for future generations, and to help secure the long-term sustainability of the tourism industry, and as part of this Heritage programme, hotels in the Legacy Group celebrated Earth Hour on 25 March 2017, by saving electricity for an hour – dimming the lights and serving guests by candlelight.
